The new BMW 1-Series coupe is a fun, nimble, and compact sports car. The 128i comes with an inline-six cylinder engine putting out 230 hp and is also available in SULEV (Super Low Emissions Vehicle) trim for CARB compliant states. The more powerful 135i has a turbocharged version of the inline-six that is boosted to make 300 hp.
Being from BMW, all 1-Series cars are drivers’ cars. The default transmission is a smooth shifting six-speed manual. For 128i drivers who don’t wish to work a clutch pedal in traffic may opt for a six-speed automatic, with a 7-speed double-clutch automatic being an option in the 135i.
The 2011 BMW 1-Series models are nicely equipped with AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio with auxiliary input, light weight alloy wheels, no-cost leather seats, fold-down rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 8-way adjustable front seats. And naturally, BMW offers many additional options.
